ROVALMA 3D PRINTERS
3D ANIMATION
For this project the requirements were simple, to show in a clear and concise way the 3 different methods of 3D printing of metal parts that Rovalma had available, with a high graphic quality and high physical detail, with a peculiarity: Explain the operation of a third patented system which we cannot reveal at the moment. What the hell was this system?
For the explanations of the SLM and DED systems we had to learn their operation, characteristics and limitations and then represent them in 3D format.
Like all projects, we presented a brainstorm, stylesheets and visual examples to share the idea of the project and the client's needs, but in this case, the challenge came with its patented method, since this mode of 3D printing was confidential and Its operation had to be represented in a somewhat abstract way but at the same time its characteristics were understood.
In the end, after discussing, we were able to obtain a very attractive result that met all the needs requested by the client, presenting a very solid and interesting project.

COLOR PALETTE
When we think about 3D printers, and even more so when they are intended for working with metals, we imagine dark, dirty colors that are sometimes difficult to understand and distinguish.
In this case we retain these characteristics but with colors that are a little lighter, pleasing to the eye and clean, thus providing a connection between the 3 methods that does not clash, giving a modern and current touch.
With these ranges of colors we also managed to focus attention on the explanation of each process along with the choice of clean and minimalist textures.
The challenge at the level of textures and colors was with its patented method, since as we have commented before, this was a confidential process, we did not know what the colors or materials could be, that is why this method has procedural "wireframe" textures. since it continues with the aesthetics of concept and technology. The truth is that choosing this visual style was a success.
SOLUTION
Some challenges that were presented to us, such as the previously mentioned patented method, were that the client wanted the most realistic and faithful result with a high quality of detail.
Being an area where at the 3D level we do not have anything beyond some old, simple and schematic videos and the other references are few real videos of the printing processes, we had to do a lot of research and study them.
All the textures were created procedurally with the physical and speed characteristics of the printing methods, as well as the entire process was also procedurally generated for the construction of the 3D pieces.
It was also a challenge for the laser to represent it in a clean way since it has very specific physical characteristics and we only had very few references, so we created it custom for this project.
With all this set of solutions we ended up giving a very distinctive "push" to this project compared to all the explanatory videos of the different methods of 3D printing in metal.
